Pearls of Wisdom brings together twelve classic stories from Africa and the Caribbean—timeless folktales originating from Benin, Nigeria, Gabon, Haiti, and beyond—into a rich, culturally vibrant reader designed for English language learners. Each story, spanning two to four pages, is carefully adapted for accessibility while preserving the rhythm, humor, moral lessons, and cultural richness of the original tales. The combination of clear language, compelling narratives, and expressive illustrations makes the book ideal for both independent reading and guided classroom instruction.

Every chapter includes discussion questions that encourage students to interpret themes, compare characters, make predictions, and connect the stories to their own experiences. A detailed glossary provides essential vocabulary support, including phrasal verbs, idiomatic expressions, collocations, and other useful language that appears throughout the readings. This thoughtful structure helps learners strengthen reading comprehension, expand vocabulary, and explore diverse cultural perspectives in an engaging and meaningful way.

Whether used in ESL and EFL classrooms, adult education, tutoring programs, or independent study, Pearls of Wisdom combines authentic storytelling with practical language learning, making it an excellent resource for building both literacy and intercultural understanding.
