Overview

English Grammar: Step by Step 2 continues the highly effective, learner-centered approach of the Step by Step series, designed specifically for beginning and low-intermediate adult ESL students. Building on the foundations of Level 1, this book introduces essential grammar topics such as the simple present and present progressive tenses, question formation, prepositions, and the use of there is/there are in everyday contexts. Its clear explanations, concise examples, and abundant practice ensure that learners not only understand grammatical forms but can apply them confidently in speaking and writing.

Each of the five chapters follows a consistent, easy-to-follow structure: explanations and examples on the left-hand page, and targeted practice on the right, including fill-in-the-blank exercises, word-order unscrambles, and comprehension questions linked to short readings or charts. Every chapter ends with a summary and three pages of review exercises that double as informal tests. The book includes an answer key and a bilingual dictionary with pronunciation to support independent study.

A free downloadable Teacher’s Manual: Teaching English Step by Step—available at ProLinguaLearning.com—provides communicative activities, reproducible pages, vocabulary cards, listening and dictation exercises, and teaching suggestions for putting grammar into real-world use. What makes this series exceptional is its clarity, steady progression, and attention to Spanish-English contrast, helping learners avoid common errors and master English grammar step by step.
