Author Biography

Dr. Raouf Mama is a Distinguished Professor of English and Storytelling, a bestselling author and a storyteller of international renown, the only one in the world today who tells in English, French, Yoruba and Fon folktales from his native Benin and from other parts of the world. His books include Pearls of Wisdom, Why Goats Smell Bad, Tropical Tales, Why Monkeys Live In Trees, winner of the National Multicultural Children's Award in the USA in 2008, Fortune's Favored Child, and It Was A Beautiful Day And Other Personal Quiet Miracle Stories. The French version of Why Goats Smell Bad, entitled Pourquoi Le Bouc Sent Mauvais, is required reading in Benin's Secondary School System. He is a CSU Professor at Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, CT.
