Write after Input offers a clear, research-informed approach to helping English learners develop strong academic writing skills through meaningful input. Rather than asking students to produce writing “from nothing,” this text provides rich listening passages and engaging readings that supply the ideas, vocabulary, and organizational patterns needed for effective paragraph and multi-paragraph writing. By beginning with input, students write with greater confidence, accuracy, and motivation—because they have something to say.

Each chapter guides students through a cycle of comprehension, language awareness, and writing practice. Learners start by listening to or reading content-based texts that introduce a focused theme. This input becomes the foundation for writing tasks that build from controlled exercises to structured paragraphs and eventually longer compositions. Along the way, students strengthen grammar and style through targeted practice, learn how to paraphrase effectively, and gain familiarity with academic language patterns.

The integrated-skills approach also mirrors the demands of real-world academic settings, where students must read, listen, summarize, and write about meaningful content. The text is suitable for high-intermediate to advanced English learners preparing for academic study, workplace communication, or advanced composition courses. An optional audio program deepens comprehension, models clear pronunciation, and reinforces the connection between listening and writing.

Write after Input provides a supportive, content-driven path into academic writing—one that helps learners build ideas before they begin to craft their own written work.
